We've reached the end of our monthlong exploration of mohair. You've learned about several brushed varieties, as well as a bulky synthetic blend for those fast-knit weekend sweaters.
I'd like to finish up by exploring mohair that is blended with wool to provide additional sheen and softness. Most major yarn manufacturers offer such blends. I've reviewed what I consider to be among the best, Green Mountain Spinnery's Mountain Mohair.
Best of the Fair
Last weekend I attended the Common Ground Country Fair. I befriended a curious Finn sheep from Stone Brook Farm (featured on the Knitter's Review homepage). I was also lucky enough to meet Nanney Kennedy, who was featured in Candace Eisner Strick's Sweaters from New England Sheep Farms. I instantly fell in love with her Seacolors wool, which I review for you this week.
What's Next?
This weekend I head to Killington, Vermont to see the fall leaves and scout out the Vermont Sheep and Wool Festival. Coming in October: Merino madness! Stay tuned.
Sincerely,

Yarn Review:
A Soft Mohair from the Mountains of Vermont

Yarn Review:
Seacolors is More Than Just a Scratchy Yarn

Most of us learned to knit using a basic, hearty yarn like this one. When you take a closer look, however, you'll soon discover that Nanney Kennedy's Seacolors yarns are anything but ordinary.

ForKnitters.com
Indulge in the knitter's version of a candy store. This new online-only boutique doesn't stock all yarns for all people. Instead, owner Jennifer Dexter focuses on a small but thorough selection of top-notch manufacturers.
