Guess what you have in common with some of Colorado's most dangerous criminals? According to a recent article in the Denver Post, more than you think.

Knitting in Prison

As part of a therapy and rehabilitation program at the Limon Correctional Facility, some 90 prisoners get to knit hats, scarves, and other items by machine for homeless children. The program has been a success, with only two convicts having been expelled.

According to the article, most of the prisoners stay on their best behavior for fear they'll have their knitting privileges revoked. One prisoner, previously a crystal methamphetamine addict, now proudly insists that he's addicted to yarn!

Blissful Blends

Speaking of yarns, this week we've got something special: A look at Debbie Bliss' new line of yarns. I also check out a new book of patterns from Monkeysuits genius Sharon Turner.

In the Forums

If you were stranded and could only have one yarn, one pair of needles, and one knitting book, what would they be? This week we discuss our desert-island stash. Join in the discussion.

This Month's Winner

Congrtulations to Jewel, winner of this month's subscriber drawing. She won a $50 gift certificate from eKnitting.com! Didn't win this month? Don't despair. We'll have another prize drawing at the end of December.

Happy knitting, and I'll see you in the forums!

Sincerely,
