Our eyes widen, our hearts beat faster.

When Yarn Lust Attacks

Suddenly we're consumed with thoughts of knitting, the soft clicking of needles, the feel of each new stitch as it is pulled from one needle to the other, the knowledge that our lives will be completely and totally empty if we do not take this yarn home with us immediately.

I call this phenomenon yarn lust. When we finally come to, we're usually in our cars driving home from the yarn shop with a huge bag of yarn in the passenger's seat and no idea how it got there.

This week I had it bad. Ironically, the yarn had been in my possession for months, lying fallow until I made that first fateful stitch. When I did, I knew I was in the presence of greatness. Read more about it in this week's yarn review.

New Toys in the Forums

Ever wonder if anyone else is in the forums when you are? Now you can immediately find this out by checking the "Online Users" area on the forums homepage.

I've also added the ability for you to communicate with one another privately. This can come in handy if, for example, you want to give another knitter your home phone number or address but might not want it visible to the entire forum.

From the forums homepage, log in and scroll down until you see "Private Messages." Immediately below that, you'll find your new in-box. If you click on it, you'll be able to read, write, or delete private messages as well as disable this feature entirely if you wish.

Also in the forums: Do you hoard yarn? You're not alone!

This Month's Winner

Congratulations to Carmelia, winner of January's newsletter subscriber drawing. She just won her very own copy of The Sole Solution sock-designing software! Stay subscribed and you could be next.

Happy knitting, and I'll see you in the forums!

Sincerely,
