Knitter's Review
January 2, 2003

winter berriesHappy New Year! I hope this finds you relaxed and ready to face new knitterly challenges and rewards. I'll be with you each step of the journey.

I can't think of a better way to begin the new year than by announcing the initial results of our Heifer Project fundraiser, which began in mid-December. So far we have collected donations worth more than $700, which means four sheep and two llamas will go to deserving families somewhere in the world on behalf of everyone at Knitter's Review.

You are amazing!

If you're still interested in contributing, you can send a check or money order (made payable to Heifer International), in whatever amount you can afford, to:

Knitter's Review
P.O. Box 1617
Blue Hill, ME 04614

Just thinking about your generosity gives me the warm fuzzies. And as luck would have it, the warm fuzzies are exactly what we explore this month: warm, fuzzy, cuddly yarns.

New This Week
If you thought cotton was only a summer fiber, Schachenmayr's cotton/mohair/wool/polyamid blend wants to prove you wrong. Can cotton really share the stage with its animal cousins? Find out.

Shop Talk
In honor of the New Year, I placed our purple "Knit Happens" slogan on a white babydoll tee. The results are revealing and fun.

I've also just received our first order of fine writing pads, made of smooth and heavy writing paper with four of our most popular notecard images.

In the Forums
As much as we love the holidays, many of us are relieved to have them over with for another year. Does this sound like you?

January Giveaway
Everybody deserves a little pampering at this time of year. That's why at the end of this month I'll pick one lucky newsletter subscriber to win a $50 gift certificate to Bliss, a New York spa that also offers wonderful goodies through its online store.

As always, thank you for your readership. Happy knitting, and I'll see you in the forums!
