Knitter's Review
June 19, 2003

Rowan Kidsilk Haze and beadsKnitter's Review often gets me in trouble. Whenever I discover a new yarn, tool, or technique I particularly like, I go overboard.

I tested Kool Aid as a yarn dye and ended up with a living room full of hand-dyed yarns. A little over a year ago, I decided to explore knitting with beads. Within a few weeks, I'd accumulated a bead stash to match any store.

My bead-knitting enthusiasm was stirred yet again when I read a new book on knitting with wire. Its review is featured this week.

Because many new readers have joined us since I first wrote about knitting with beads (5,380 of you to be exact), I've also pulled two articles out of the archives, updated them, and republished them this week.

Enjoy!

New This Week
Checkbooks beware, there's a way to blend knitting and wire that could get you in some serious trouble. If the patterns in Nancie Wiseman's new book don't do it, the list of recommended supplies might.

A few well-placed beads can take your knitting to an entirely new level. Learn how to do it right in this tips-and-tricks article about knitting with beads.

And if you thought knitting was just for clothes, think again. Learn simple techniques for knitting your own beautiful beaded jewelry.

The KR Boutique: Not Just for Knitting Anymore
No matter how much we love knitting, sometimes we need a break. Jennifer Pudney's bright, colorful, and often whimsical needlepoint kits offer a marvelous distraction. See the kits in our collection.

Register for the Second-Annual KR Retreat!
Since we opened up registration last week, 18 people have already secured their spots at the second-annual Knitter's Review Retreat, scheduled to take place November 7-9 at the Graves Mountain Lodge in Syria, Virginia. I invite you to join us too!

This year's activities will center around color -- how to choose it and use it with confidence. Read about last year's retreat, which was a great success.
