Knitter's Review October 2, 2003
|
We often get so wrapped up in the moment that we forget to acknowledge those people who paved our way. In the knitting world, this week's featured designer is one such person.
Since he first turned his artist's eye to yarn in the 1970s, Kaffe Fassett has revolutionized the concept of colorful knitwear. Now you can apply his famous color patterns to anything you'd like using his new book. Read the review (http://knittersreview.com/goto.asp?goto=KFPattern).

New Tee in the Boutique
Knitters, it's time to reclaim our freedom and combat those long-outdated stereotypes. That's why this week I unveil the Take Back the Needles long-sleeved tee. Quantities are limited.

Knitterly Travel Down Under
If you've ever been curious about visiting New Zealand, you must investigate the Interweave Press New Zealand Journey from April 9-26, 2004. The trip is led by Nola Fournier, author of In Sheep's Clothing: A Handspinner's Guide to Wool, and will include stops at the Ashford Spinning Wheel factory, overnight stays on working sheep farms, and three days at the 2004 Creative Fibre Festival in Masterton. I plan to set aside my pennies for this one.
November Retreat Update
Speaking of travels, the official KR Retreat canvas totes arrived yesterday, marking one more step toward the second-annual Knitter's Review Retreat in Syria, Virginia next month. Although the overnight portion is sold out, you can still join us on November 8 for the Saturday portion of the retreat. Stay for dinner and enjoy an evening of spinning and knitting by the large stone fireplace in our meeting room!

October Prize
There's nothing like curling up by the fire with a warm cup of tea (or coffee) and your knitting on a fall evening. In case you need to stock up on provisions for the winter, this month we'll give away a $50 gift certificate to gourmet retailer Dean & DeLuca. Simply stay subscribed and you'll automatically be in the drawing.
As always, thank you for your readership. Happy knitting, and I'll see you in the forums!
