Knitter's Review January 22, 2004
|
Last week I showed you an attractive little knitting kit for beginners. It included everything you needed to get started except for one essential ingredient: yarn.
This week I show you a larger kit with fewer projects, deeper technique instructions, and—yes—even a skein of yarn. But is the learning curve too steep for beginners?

Clover Cutter Update
You may recall back in November we reviewed the Clover thread cutter pendant, a handy device for cutting yarns. It is marketed as airplane-safe, and many of us (myself included) have traveled safely with this tool. However, I just received an email from one reader who had hers confiscated by an airport security agent in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He pointed to a photo of this tool in his list of contraband items. Bottom line: Even if the chances are slim, be prepared to hand over your tool.
January Subscriber Prize
You made it through the holidays, now it's time to treat yourself. That's why next week I'll be picking one newsletter subscriber to receive a $50 gift certificate to Sephora, an online retailer of restorative lotions, potions, and smellies.
As always, I thank you for your readership and your support.
Happy knitting, and I'll see you in the forums!
