 This week's newsletter is a little early as I head to Long Beach, California for the National NeedleArts Association's winter trade show.
All the major yarn companies, tool makers, and pattern publishers will be there previewing their latest goodies for store owners, who travel from near and far to do their buying for the season.

Cost doesn't always determine quality, at least where knitting needles are concerned. This week I show you two similar-priced rosewood knitting needles with striking differences: the first is factory-produced in India and the second is lovingly hand-turned by a single woodworker in Ohio.
Forums: A Chance to Contribute
You may have noticed a new button at the top and bottom of each page in the forums, which reads "Make a Donation." If you click on it, you'll be taken to a secure page where you can make a donation via PayPal to help sustain the forums.
Why this, and why now? The answer is simple: We're outgrowing our existing resources. In January alone, almost 1,000 people joined the forums.
More forum members means a need for greater bandwidth, storage space at our Web host, software monitoring and improvements, and adequate staffing to support the needs of every forum member.
Your donations help cover these costs, are entirely discretionary, and are very much appreciated.
