Knitter's Review
January 5, 2006

a merino snowball stays toasty warm Happy New Year! We're only five days into 2006 and I can already tell it's going to be a great year.

I just came in from outside, where it's a brisk 17 degrees—but the handknit angora scarf around my neck kept me toasty warm.

For many of us, scarves are a constant accessory during the winter months. I'm not talking about the flashy colorful novelty-yarn ones that are so popular, but the plush, warm, supersoft scarves guaranteed to keep our internal thermometers at a toasty 98.6 degrees.

There's no shortage of patterns for such scarves. But why do many of them call for yarns that are the tactile equivalent of an emery board?

This week, I'll show you more than 10 yarns that beg to be worn around your neck.
