Knitter's Review

Yarn isn't the only unruly item in our knitting bags.

Anyone who's knit with circular needles knows that they have a mind of their own. Keeping them orderly inside your knitting bag is a challenge. This week I try out two new cases designed expressly to let you carry lots of circulars while on the go.

Airplane Knitting
In last week's review I mentioned taking my knitting on an airplane. Several of you emailed to ask if knitting needles really were allowed on U.S. flights. Here's the latest scoop.

According to a recent TSA brief on this subject, while knitting needles are allowed on airplanes, individual Security Officers may still deem them a weapon and confiscate them. To avoid this, they recommend traveling with circulars that are less than 31 inches long, and that you stick to needles made of bamboo or plastic. Ironically, they will allow you to bring a crochet hook to "save the work you have already done" in case your needles are confiscated. Do you have a story or question? Share it in our flying-with-needles section of the forum.

New Beginnings x 2
After more than four years as editor of Interweave Knits, Pam Allen is leaving to take a position as Creative Director of Classic Elite Yarns. Interweave has tapped 23-year-old blogger extraordinaire Eunny Jang to replace her. Congratulations and best of luck to them both!

As always, thank you for your readership and your support. Happy knitting, and I'll see you in the forums!
