Knitter's Review
March 31, 2011
a surprise package from Happy Fuzzy Yarn

Change is good. It can pull us out of routines, reminding us how much of the world awaits our discovery.

Change can also pull us out of knitting ruts. If you find yourself picking the same yarns, the same colors, and the same kinds of patterns over and over again, consider treating yourself to a yarn club. The terms and timeframes vary, but these clubs will send you yarn and a pattern you may never have chosen for yourself, in a color that may surprise you. Here's a look at seven popular yarn clubs.

Masterpieces Reimagined
They're called The Materialistics, and each year this adventurous English knitting group takes on an epic project. This year they're creating knitted versions of some of the world's most famous art—and the results are inspiring.

This Week Out West
Alpacapalooza takes place April 1-3 at the Clark County Events Center in Ridgefield, Washington. Nearly 200 alpaca farms will be participating in two days of halter and fleece shows, a spin-off, fiber-arts and photo contests, an auction, and educational seminars. As always, the event is free to the public.

In the Forum: Club Finds
The best yarn club recommendations tend to come from people who've belonged in the past. We're sharing our stories of those yarn clubs we loved, those we recommend, and those we'd rather forget.
