Knitter's Review
April 7, 2011
forsythia and Briar Rose Legend

Beth Brown-Reinsel is one of the busiest teachers in knitting. It's a rare month when she doesn't have at least two workshops planned, usually more—and often on opposite ends of the country.

Her specialty is the gansey, a traditional type of sweater from the British Isles. And now, thanks to her new DVD Knitting Ganseys, you can take her workshop in the comfort of your own home.

A Green Goodbye
A family-run wool mill in Yorkshire, England, has come up with a new way to market its fleece: woolen coffins. The latest in the "eco-coffin" trend, these "eternal sweaters" feature a heavy woolen exterior made from the fleece of three Dorset sheep. Supported on a recycled cardboard frame, the coffin also has jute handles and a cotton interior.

This Week in Texas
Join Anne Hanson, Robyn Chacula, and Mary Beth Temple at the Grapevine Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas, for DFW Fiberfest 2011. There'll be workshops, a vendor area, and a talk and signing by Mary Beth Temple.

In the Forum: Knitting Wish List
We usually drool over the latest goodies and gadgets in the "What's on your knitting wish list?" thread, but this week we're talking about grander wishes: finished knitting projects.

On the Cover

People often write and ask, "What yarn is that in this week's cover picture?" I'll be sharing that information here. This week's photo features Briar Rose Legend and a branch of forsythia.
