April 28, 2011 Solitude Wool is one of my favorite sources for breed-specific yarns. Based in Virginia, Solitude creates artisan yarns from its own sheep as well as the flocks of other small farms in the Chesapeake Bay region. The yarns are naturally dyed or au naturel. To buy Solitude yarns, you either had to visit their booth at a show or market, or pick up an ancient communications device called a "telephone" and speak with Gretchen or Sue directly.
