June 15, 2001

This week's newsletter is a day late because I've been up to my elbows in an assortment of Kool Aid flavors. Not drinking them, mind you, but using them to dye yarn.

Color in Fiber

The results were impressive enough to make me take Kool Aid off my beverage list and add it, instead, to my yarn workshop.

Continuing on our theme of colors this month, I've included a simple step-by-step tutorial on dyeing with basic nontoxic materials such as Kool Aid. If you've never tried dyeing yarns before, this technique offers a perfect and fun introduction. I also include tips on customized dyeing.

Try this at home, send me a picture of the results, and I'll post it on the site!

Knits for the Home

If dyeing isn't your cup of tea, fear not. We also review Erika Knight's "Comforts of Home." The book contains a collection of simple but fashionable patterns for knitted home accessories.

Next Drawing

Our next newsletter subscriber drawing will take place on June 28th for a $50 gift certificate to ForKnitters.com! Simply stay subscribed and you could win.

Happy knitting!

Sincerely,
