April 25, 2002

Whoever said April was the cruelest month obviously spent a lot of time in Maine. Last week I was in shorts and flipflops, today I'm huddled against a storm predicted to leave behind as many as six inches of snow. My poor plants don't stand a chance.

Chunky Cotton
It's somewhat fitting that we look at a rather hefty, almost winterlike cotton this week. It feels like a washcloth and knits up like shoelaces... but in a good way.

Report from Beginnerland
If you're relatively new to knitting, you may find it hard to navigate the sea of pamphlets and guides available to you. Some are for sale, others are free. And many offer only a limited perspective on how to do something, pushing one technique and leaving you confused and disheartened.

This week I check out a series of basic pamphlets designed to build courage and boost creativity.

From Me to You
Last week I told you about the special 10% discount I negotiated for you to receive from eKnitting.com.

In case you missed it, here are the details: Until Sunday, May 5th, order anything you want (including clearance items), enter KNITREV3592 in the Promotion Code box when you check out, and you'll receive 10% off your total order.

The code can be used as many times as you'd like between now and the 5th.

In the Forums
Sure, 10% is a nice discount, but it only goes so far. If money were no object, what knitting- and fiber-related items would you buy?

Join the discussion.

April Prize
At the end of the month I'll pick one lucky Knitter's Review subscriber to win a $50 gift certificate from eKnitting.com! Want to win? Simply stay subscribed and you'll automatically be in the drawing.

Happy knitting, and I'll chat with you in the forums,

Sincerely,

P.S.-Do you have friends who would enjoy Knitter's Review? If so, use our simple Tell a Friend form and let them know about us.

Everybody likes to tell beginners how to knit. But to show beginners their possibilities -- and then step out of the way -- takes a little something extra.
