Knitter's Review

the stolen shawl

My shawl has a police record.

Five minutes before the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival opened last weekend, someone stepped into the Brooks Farm Yarn booth and slipped the Optic Waves Shawl from my book off its hanger and into her bag.

That theft kicked off a series of additional break-ins, thefts, and acts of vandalism that kept the Howard County Sheriff's Department busy all weekend—and that left a lot of knitters wondering what was happening to our once-sacred little community.

But the sheep were plentiful, the lines long, and the vendors well-stocked, so join me for a look inside this year's Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival.

This Weekend in New Hampshire
If you're in New England and eager for a road trip, drive out to the Hopkinton Fairgrounds in Contoocook, New Hampshire this weekend for the New Hampshire Sheep and Wool Festival. The fairgrounds, with their old New England summer camp feel, are a perfect backdrop for this quieter, family-friendly event.

In the Forum: More Mojo
One Forum member has lost her knitting mojo and is starting to feel like her knitting is actually causing more stress than it's alleviating. Is she alone? Do you sometimes feel stressed by your projects?
