Knitter's Review

swirling Good Karma

Close your eyes and come with me to Belfast, Maine, a coastal hamlet four hours north of Boston. The road to Belfast leads you through rolling fields and farmland, past sprawling old mansions, and finally into a brick-lined downtown overlooking a harbor punctuated by a bright red tugboat.

Among the many fine businesses that call Belfast home is Good Karma Farm and Spinning Company, which raises alpacas and makes beautiful yarn. Care to swatch with me?

How to Help
No number of knitted hats or afghan squares can start to fix the situation in Japan—and yet it's hard to sit by and do nothing. I know many companies are offering special sales to benefit Japan. May I also suggest you donate directly to the Red Cross, Doctors without Borders, or Save the Children. It has been recommended that you designate your donation "unrestricted," so that it can go where it is currently needed most.

In the Forum: Lost and Found
Hilma is working on an afghan pattern with pages and pages of instructions. She's currently working 8 repeats of a 16-row pattern and keeps getting lost. Does anyone have a sure-fire technique for keeping track of the rows in a pattern?
