Knitter's Review
February 5, 2015
Yarn on a swift

Breed-specific yarns are no longer a niche product. They're rapidly entering the mainstream.

Helping make this happen is Solitude Wool, a small yarn company that sources from farms along the Chesapeake Bay watershed. When I first profiled them in 2011, I lamented their lack of a nicely rounded three-ply for anything other than socks. Guess what? With the help of Clun Forest sheep, our wishes have come true.

Coming Up
On Saturday, February 7th, the ninth-annual Knit Michigan takes place at the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. The volunteer-led event is dedicated to raising funds for Michigan cancer organizations through a marketplace, a silent auction, and workshops. The following weekend at the Hotel Murano in Tacoma, Washington, the legendary Madrona Fiber Arts Winter Retreat unfolds, with a marketplace, book signings, workshops, and mini-classes.
